Does Meguiar’s Waterless Car Wash Beat Soap & Water?

Meguiar's Wterless Car Wash & Wax (G3626 Ultimate) Anywhere Spray - 26 oz.Imagine lifting the dirt off of your car… without having to go to the car wash. In fact, you can do it without even leaving your garage, using Meguiar’s Waterless Car Wash Ultimate Anywhere Spray.

First of all, I like the Meguiar’s brand. I started using their ScratchX scratch remover and was pretty impressed. One thing I noticed is that they don’t overcharge for their products. You get a good deal.

Similarly, Meguiar’s Waterless Car Wash (wax & wax spray) costs less than $10 and gets about 3-5 washes. I find that most times I clean my car, I am doing small touch-up work. I end up getting more uses out of a single bottle, and I can keep my car looking better for longer (and with less work).

Hydrophobic Wax Makes a Big Difference

Man Washing Car with Meguiar's Waterless Car WashThat’s the benefit of the hydrophobic wax that is in the product. It is a polymer that helps protect the finish of your car between washes as well as repel water.

I discovered another nice side benefit to having this slick finish. I can sometimes wipe down the car with a dry microfiber cloth in between washes to extend the life of the wash. Talk about easy!

The spray bottle also lets me use a small amount at a time. I like the fact that it is also safe on vinyl, rubber, tires, glass, etc..

A Nice Cost Savings!

For the average person, there’s no need to buy a bunch of car cleaning products when you can use just one. It ends up being easier, quicker and cheaper.

Some people might disagree with me on this, saying that glass cleaner is less expensive than waterless car wash. However, A little bit of Meguiar’s goes a long way. You may end up using less than you think.

Review of Meguiar’s Wash & Wax:

An important tip that I found out is to always have clean microfiber towels on hand. Wash and dry them the right way so that they don’t collect lint or lose their electrostatic charge.

This way, towels will easily pick up dirt and remove it without scratching your car’s finish. Furthermore, clean towels will not leave lint on your car either.

Since waterless car wash is so easy to use, I sometimes find that I get a little lazy. (Plus, Meguiar’s can even be used in full sun!). I wipe the product until it dries, but I don’t buff it out enough. This can sometimes leave a haze on the car’s finish.

This is why I now do a second “look-over” when I finish cleaning my car. If there is any waxy haze on the car, I can quickly and easily buff it out. Sometimes I spray some extra wash and wax, but other times I can buff out the finish with just a dry microfiber towel.

My Final Thoughts:

In summary, I think this waterless car wash is easier to use than regular soap and water. In addition, it leaves a shinier finish that lasts longer than your typical car wash. At the less-than-$10 price tag, I think this product is a bargain, especially with the Meguiar’s name behind it. This is likely to get a lot of people hooked on washing their cars without water.

By the way, did you know that you should not use dish soap or other soaps that are not formulated for automotive cleaning? According to Autos.com, they can strip the polymers for the car’s surface and accelerate oxidation.

If you want to know the ingredients in Meguiar’s Ultimate Wash and Wax, you are out of luck. The conditioners are a trade secret. However I found the data sheet for this product and you can view the data sheet here.
